Key features include a large 12-digit, 2-line LCD display, 273 functions, two operational modes (Normal & Stat), 8 temporary memory buttons, and 1 & 2 variable statistics capabilities. Its durable design and twin power source (solar with battery backup) ensure reliable performance.
Setha
1. Ukufakwa kwebhethri
The SHARP EL531XTWH calculator is twin-powered, operating on solar energy with a battery backup. A 1.5V LR44 battery is included. If the display becomes dim or unresponsive in low light, the battery may need replacement.
- Turn the calculator OFF.
- Thola indawo yebhethri ngemuva kwesibali.
- Carefully open the battery cover using a small screwdriver or coin.
- Remove the old battery (if applicable) and insert a new LR44 battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-).
- Vala ikhava yebhethri ngokuphephile.

Umfanekiso 2: Emuva view of the calculator, indicating the battery compartment location.
2. Initial Power On and Display Check
Cindezela inkinobho VULA/C key to turn on the calculator. The display should show "0." or "0.00" depending on the initial settings. If the display is blank or shows unusual characters, ensure the battery is correctly installed and try pressing the SETHA KABUSHA button (usually a small recessed button requiring a thin object like a paperclip).
Imiyalelo yokusebenza
1. Basic Arithmetic Operations
Enter numbers and operations in the order they appear. The Direct Algebraic Logic (D.A.L.) system allows for natural input.

- Ukukhipha: [Number 1] [-] [Number 2] [=]
- Ukuphindaphinda: [Number 1] [x] [Number 2] [=]
- Isigaba: [Number 1] [÷] [Number 2] [=]
2. Function Keys Overview
The calculator features a wide array of function keys. Many keys have secondary functions, accessed by pressing the I-F yesibili key first, indicated by text above the primary key function.

Umfanekiso 3: Vala-up view of the calculator's display and function keys.
Imisebenzi ye-Trigonometric
Sebenzisa isono, cos, i-tan for sine, cosine, and tangent. Inverse functions (isono-1, cos-1, i-tan-1) zifinyelelwa nge I-F yesibili.
Imisebenzi ye-Logarithmic kanye ne-Exponential
Keys include log (i-logarithm evamile), ln (natural logarithm), 10x, futhi ex.
Power and Root Functions
Sebenzisa x2, x3, √ (square root), and 3√ (cube root).
Inkumbulo Imisebenzi
The calculator has 8 temporary memory buttons. Use I-STO (Store) to save a value and I-RCL (Recall) to retrieve it.
Izibalo Zezibalo
Ukuze ufake imodi yezibalo, cindezela IMODE bese ukhetha STAT. The calculator supports 1 and 2 variable statistics. Refer to the on-screen prompts for data entry and calculation of statistical values like mean, standard deviation, etc.
3. Ukukhetha Imodi
Cindezela inkinobho IMODE key to switch between Normal and Statistical modes. Ensure you are in the correct mode for your calculations.
Isondlo
1. Ukuhlanza
To clean the calculator, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but ensure no liquid enters the calculator. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
2. Isitoreji

3. Ukushintshwa Kwebhethri
As mentioned in the Setup section, replace the LR44 battery when the display becomes dim or the calculator malfunctions in low light conditions. Always dispose of old batteries according to local regulations.
Ukuxazulula inkinga
| Inkinga | Imbangela Engenzeka | Isixazululo |
|---|---|---|
| Isibonisi asinalutho noma sifiphele. | Ukukhanya okunganele kwamandla elanga, noma ibhethri eliphansi. | Move to a brighter area. Replace the LR44 battery. |
| Calculator does not respond to key presses. | Temporary system error or low battery. | Cindezela inkinobho SETHA KABUSHA button on the back of the calculator using a thin, pointed object. Ensure battery is good. |
| Imiphumela yokubala engalungile. | Incorrect mode selected (e.g., DEG/RAD/GRAD, Normal/Stat), or input error. | Check the current mode settings. Review your input sequence. Perform a SETHA KABUSHA uma kunesidingo. |
| Umlayezo othi "IPHUTHA" uboniswa. | Mathematical error (e.g., division by zero, invalid function argument). | Review the calculation for mathematical validity. Press VULA/C ukusula iphutha. |
