- Ukukhulula: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present: the stainless steel body, the motion sensor lid, the removable liner ring, and two D alkaline batteries.

Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the lid. Open the compartment cover. Insert two D alkaline batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. Close the cover securely.

- Liner Ring and Trash Bag Installation:
Place a standard 50L (13.2 Gallon) trash bag into the stainless steel body. Position the removable liner ring over the top edge of the trash bag, tucking the excess bag material underneath the ring to secure it. This conceals the bag and holds it firmly in place.
- Namathisela Isivalo: Carefully place the motion sensor lid onto the top of the stainless steel body, ensuring it sits flush and securely.

Motion Sensor Operation:
The trash can is equipped with an infrared motion sensor for hands-free operation. When an object (such as your hand or trash) approaches the sensor area (typically within 6-10 inches above the sensor), the lid will automatically open. The lid will remain open as long as the object is within the sensor's range. Once the object moves away, the lid will automatically close after a few seconds (usually 5-7 seconds) to contain odors.

Simply wave your hand or approach the sensor to activate the automatic lid opening feature.

For extended opening or manual control, the lid also features control buttons:
- VULA Inkinobho: Press the "OPEN" button (often indicated by an up arrow or open icon) to keep the lid open indefinitely. The lid will remain open until you press the "CLOSE" button.
- VALA Inkinobho: Press the "CLOSE" button (often indicated by a down arrow or close icon) to manually close the lid. This is useful if you want to close the lid immediately without waiting for the automatic timer.

- Ngaphakathi: If the interior of the can becomes dirty, remove the trash bag and liner ring. Wipe the inside with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Rinse and dry completely before replacing the trash bag and lid.

When the batteries are low, the lid's operation may become slow or inconsistent, or the indicator light may change (e.g., from green to red, or blink). Replace the batteries as follows:

- Vula ikhava yengxenye yebhethri.
- Remove the old D alkaline batteries.
- Insert two new D alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
