3. Setha

3.1 Ukunika amandla ikhibhodi

The keyboard can be powered in two ways:

  • Amandla we-USB: Connect the provided USB cable to the DC 5V-2A port on the back of the keyboard and to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  • Amandla Ebhethri: Insert 4 x AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard. Ensure correct polarity.

3.2 Attaching the Music Rest

Locate the slots on the top panel of the keyboard. Insert the music rest into these slots until it is securely in place. This provides a stable platform for sheet music or a tablet.

3.3 Applying Keynote Stickers

For beginners, the included piano note stickers can be applied to the white keys to help identify notes. Carefully peel each sticker and align it with the corresponding key, ensuring it adheres smoothly. These stickers are designed to be removable.

4. Iziqondiso Zokusebenza

4.1 Vula/Vala amandla

Cindezela inkinobho AMANDLA button located on the top left of the control panel to turn the keyboard on or off.

4.2 Ukulawula ivolumu

4.3 Selecting Tones

The keyboard features 200 different tones. To select a tone:

  1. Cindezela inkinobho IPHINI inkinobho.
  2. Use the number pad (0-9) or the '+' and '-' buttons to enter the desired tone number. The selected tone number will appear on the digital display.

Refer to the tone list printed on the keyboard for available options, including Piano, Organ, Guitar, Bass, Strings, Brass, Synth, and various Sound Effects.

4.4 Ukukhetha Izigqi

The keyboard includes 200 rhythms. To select a rhythm:

  1. Cindezela inkinobho ISIgqi inkinobho.
  2. Use the number pad (0-9) or the '+' and '-' buttons to enter the desired rhythm number.
  3. Cindezela QALA/YIMA ukuqala noma ukuqeda isigqi.

Available rhythms include Pop, Dance, Samba, Tango, Country, and various traditional styles.

4.5 Ukulungiswa Kwesimo Sezulu

While a rhythm or demo song is playing, use the I-TEMPO '+' and '-' buttons to increase or decrease the playback speed.

4.6 Izingoma zeDemo

The keyboard has 50 pre-recorded demo songs. Press the IDEMO button to cycle through and play the demo songs. Press QALA/YIMA ukumisa ukudlala.

4.7 Qopha futhi udlale

The RockJam RJ490BB offers several ports for enhanced functionality:

  • I-Headphone Jack (3.5mm): Connect headphones for private practice without disturbing others.
  • Okokufaka Kokusiza (3.5mm): Connect an external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to play along with your favorite songs.
  • Microphone Input (3.5mm): Connect a microphone (not included) to sing along while playing.
  • Imbobo ye-USB: Connect the keyboard to a computer for MIDI functionality, allowing use with music software.

6. Learning Resources

Your RockJam keyboard includes access to exclusive content designed to aid your learning:

  • Simply Piano App: Unlock exclusive content from the Simply Piano IOS and Android application. This app provides interactive lessons, helping you learn fundamental piano techniques and play popular songs. Follow the instructions provided with your product to redeem your access.
  • Keynote Stickers: As mentioned in the Setup section, these stickers are a visual aid for identifying notes on the keys, making it easier to follow sheet music and learn scales.

7. Isondlo

Proper care will ensure the longevity of your keyboard:

  • Ukuhlanza: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the keyboard. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish.
