4. Setha

4. Umjikelezo Wokuqala Wokwenza Ubhiya (Umjikelezo Wokuhlanza): Fill the water reservoir to the MAX fill line with fresh, cold water. Do not add coffee grounds. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the 'Clean' button to initiate a cleaning cycle. This will flush out any manufacturing residues. Discard the water after the cycle is complete. Repeat this process once more for thorough cleaning.
5. Ukubekwa: Place the coffee machine on a flat, stable surface, away from the edge of the counter. Ensure adequate clearance above the machine for steam to escape.

5. Iziqondiso Zokusebenza

5.1 Ukwenza Ikhofi

1. Gcwalisa Inqolobane Yamanzi: Open the water reservoir lid and fill with fresh, cold water to the desired brew size indicated on the side of the reservoir.
2. Engeza Izinkundla Zekhofi: Place the permanent filter or a paper filter (cone-shaped) into the filter basket. Add the appropriate amount of ground coffee using the provided measuring scoop. Refer to the recommended coffee-to-water ratios for best results.
3. Khetha usayizi we-Brew: Use the MultiServe Dial System to select your desired brew size (e.g., 5 oz, 8 oz, 12 oz, 16 oz, 20 oz, Half Carafe, Full Carafe).
4. Choose Brew Strength: Press the 'BrewChoice Plus' buttons to select your preferred strength:
   • Over Ice: For brewing concentrated coffee over ice.
   • Ukukhanya: For a milder coffee flavor.
   • Igolide: The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) certified standard for optimal flavor extraction.
   • Isibindi: For a stronger, more intense coffee flavor.
5. Qala Ukukhiqiza: Place the glass carafe on the warming plate. Press the 'Brew' button to start the brewing process. The machine will automatically adjust water flow and temperature based on your selections.

5.2 Ukukhipha Amanzi Ashisayo

The Braun MultiServe Coffee Machine features a separate hot water spout for tea or other hot beverages, ensuring no coffee taste transfer.

1. Gcwalisa Inqolobane Yamanzi: Ensure the water reservoir has sufficient water.
2. Indebe yendawo: Position your cup or mug under the dedicated hot water spout.
3. Khipha Amanzi Ashisayo: Press the 'Hot Water' button. The machine will dispense hot water.

5.3 Izici Ezihlelekayo

• Ukusetha Iwashi: Press the 'Clock' button and use the dial to set the current time. Press 'Clock' again to confirm.
• Isikhathi Esizenzekelayo: Press the 'Auto On' button. Set the desired brew time using the dial. Press 'Auto On' again to confirm. The machine will automatically start brewing at the set time.

6. Ukuhlanza Nokunakekela

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee machine.

6.1 Ukuhlanza Nsuku Zonke

• Carafe and Filter Basket: After each use, wash the glass carafe, carafe lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
• Ingaphandle: Wipe the exterior of the coffee machine with a soft, damp indwangu. Ungasebenzisi izinto zokuhlanza abrasive noma amaphedi okukhuhla.

6.2 Descaling (Decalcification)

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. The 'Clean' indicator light will illuminate when descaling is recommended.

1. Lungiselela Isixazululo: Mix 10 oz (295 ml) of white vinegar with 20 oz (590 ml) of cold water. Pour the solution into the water reservoir.
2. Qala Ukwehlisa: Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the 'Clean' button. The descaling cycle will begin and typically takes about 45-60 minutes.
3. Imijikelezo yokuhlanza: After the descaling cycle is complete, discard the solution. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the MAX fill line. Run two full brewing cycles with only water to rinse the machine thoroughly.

6.3 Charcoal Water Filter Replacement

Replace the charcoal water filter every 60 days or after 60 uses, whichever comes first, to ensure optimal water quality.
