3. Iziqondiso Zokusebenza

The Smart Fence Volt & Current Meter is designed for ease of use in the field. It can measure both voltage and current, and help pinpoint faults.

3.1. Ukulinganisa Umqtage kanye Namanje

To measure fence voltage kanye neyamanje:

  1. Qinisekisa ukuthi idivayisi ivuliwe.
  2. Connect the detachable earth lead to a good ground source (e.g., a ground rod or the fence's ground wire).
  3. Touch the retractable voltage probe to the fence wire you wish to test.
  4. The digital display will show both the voltage (kV) and current (A) readings.

3.2. Ukuthola Amaphutha

The directional arrows on the display assist in locating faults quickly:

  1. Begin testing at the energizer or a known good point on the fence.
  2. Move along the fence line, taking readings at regular intervals.
  3. If a fault (e.g., a short circuit or significant voltage drop) is detected, the arrows on the display will indicate the direction of the fault.
  4. Follow the direction indicated by the arrows, continuing to take readings until the fault location is pinpointed. The current reading will typically increase significantly as you approach a short.

4. Isondlo

To ensure the longevity and accurate performance of your Gallagher Smart Fence Volt & Current Meter, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Ukuhlanza: Sula idivayisi ngesikhangisoamp indwangu yokukhipha ukungcola nemfucumfucu. Ungasebenzisi izinto zokuhlanza abrasive noma izincibilikisi.
  • Isitoreji: Store the meter in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid extreme temperatures.
  • Ukushintshwa Kwebhethri: The device is designed for long battery life (up to 3 years). Replace the 3V CR2 battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display or if readings become inconsistent. Refer to Section 2 for battery installation instructions.
  • Ukuqina: The meter features a tough, impact- and water-resistant case, making it suitable for outdoor use. However, avoid submerging the device in water.

5. Ukuxazulula izinkinga

Inkinga Imbangela Engenzeka Isixazululo
No display or device won't turn on. Ibhethri elifile noma elifakwe kabi. Check battery polarity. Replace the 3V CR2 battery.
Inaccurate or fluctuating readings. Poor ground connection; low battery; interference. Ensure the earth lead has a solid connection to ground. Replace battery. Move away from other electrical devices.
Arrows not indicating fault direction clearly. Fault is very close; multiple faults; weak fence pulse. Take readings closer together. Address obvious faults first. Check energizer output.
Device not detecting current. No current flow on fence; device malfunction. Verify energizer is on and fence is live. Ensure proper contact with fence wire. If problem persists, contact support.
