5.1 Ukulungiswa Kwendawo Yokukhwela

Ensure the intended mounting location is a secure ceiling fan-rated metal electrical box, capable of supporting at least 35 lbs (15.9 kg). If an existing fixture is present, ensure the outlet box is suitable for fan support. For mounting locations between support beams, a fan-rated support brace (e.g., Hubbell RACO Kwik-Brace) may be required.

5.2 Downrod Assembly

Remove the clevis pin from the downrod by first removing the cotter pin. Set both pins aside for later use. Prepare the canopy cover and coupling cover by sliding them onto the downrod. Align the downrod with the coupling on top of the fan motor housing. Reinsert the clevis pin, ensuring wires are not damaged, and secure it with the cotter pin. Tighten the set screws on the coupling to lock the downrod in place. This step is crucial to prevent fan wobble.

Install the mounting bracket to the ceiling fan-rated outlet box. Pass the electrical wires through the hole in the ceiling for easy access. Lift the assembled fan and place the mounting ball from the downrod into the ceiling mounting bracket. Rotate the ball until the slot falls into place, ensuring the fan is securely seated.

5.4 Wiring the Fan

Wire the fan according to the installation instructions provided with your specific model. Generally, connect black wires to black, white to white, and bare copper/green wires as the ground wires. Some fans may include a receiver that needs to be wired in as per instructions. Use the provided wire nuts to make secure connections. Trim any excess wire from the downrod, leaving a minimum of 6 extra inches for connections.

5.5 Canopy and Blade Attachment

Push the wires and receiver (if applicable) into place and cover them by attaching the canopy cover. Move the coupling cover into place. Attach the fan blades to the motor housing using a screwdriver. It is recommended to attach all screws loosely at first, then go back and securely tighten them to prevent fan wobble.

  • Clockwise / Reverse: Used during cooler months to create an upward draft, pushing warm air to the ceiling and circulating it throughout the room, making it feel warmer.
