Setha

1. Ukufakwa kwebhethri

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the main tester unit.
  2. Vula ikhava yebhethri.
  3. Insert the included 9-Volt battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Vala ikhava yebhethri ngokuphephile.

2. Connecting Cables for Testing

The tester consists of a main unit and a remote unit. For most tests, one end of the cable connects to the main unit and the other end to the remote unit. For installed cables, the remote unit can be left at the far end of the cable run.

  • RJ45 Cables: Insert one end of the RJ45 cable into the RJ45 port on the main unit and the other end into the RJ45 port on the remote unit.
  • Amakhebuli angama-Coaxial: Insert one end of the coaxial cable into the F-connector port on the main unit and the other end into the F-connector port on the remote unit. Use the provided adapters for BNC or RCA connections as needed.

Imiyalelo yokusebenza

Ukusebenza Okujwayelekile

  1. Ensure the 9-Volt battery is installed in the main unit.
  2. Connect the cable to be tested to the appropriate ports on the main and remote units.
  3. Select the desired test mode (RJ45 or Coax) using the switch on the side of the main unit.
  4. Cindezela inkinobho TEST button to initiate the cable test.

  3. Cindezela inkinobho TEST button. The LEDs on both units will sequentially light up from 1 to 8, indicating the status of each wire pair.
  4. Interpretation of LEDs:
    • All LEDs light up sequentially on both units: Indicates a correctly wired cable (Pass).
    • LEDs do not light up or skip a number: Indicates an open circuit (Open).
    • Multiple LEDs light up simultaneously or out of sequence: Indicates a short circuit, miswire, or split pair.
    • "Low Batt" LED: Indicates the 9-Volt battery needs replacement.

Coaxial (A/V) Cable Testing

This mode tests coaxial cables (F-type, BNC, RCA with adapters) for continuity and shorts.

  1. Connect the coaxial cable to the main and remote units (using adapters if necessary).
  2. Set the switch on the main unit to I-COAX.
  3. Cindezela inkinobho TEST inkinobho.
  4. Interpretation of LEDs:
    • "Pass" LED lights up: Indicates good continuity.
    • "Short" LED lights up: Indicates a short circuit in the cable.
    • No LEDs light up: Indicates an open circuit or no connection.
    • "Low Batt" LED: Indicates the 9-Volt battery needs replacement.
